See the Director's This Epic Preview the Way It Wasn't Meant for Viewing.

The acclaimed filmmaker's mythic action epic, The Odyssey, is a film audiences have been anticipating ever since it was revealed. It easily ranks among the most hotly anticipated motion pictures coming next year. In a festive surprise, a trailer has finally arrived, even if it's compromised due to the platform's low-quality encoding—perhaps explaining why Nolan initially kept the trailer solely for theatrical audiences.

The Initial Look at the Legendary Cast

This first look showcases Matt Damon portraying Odysseus. We also see Tom Holland as Telemachus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. In a poignant moment, the character pleads with her husband to vow he will return, only for him to look up and question what occurs should he fail. Furthermore, the preview provides a quick, obscured look at Polyphemus the Cyclops, whose flock are taken by the hero and his men on their treacherous voyage.

Adapted from a cornerstone in classic storytelling, The Odyssey chronicles the epic journey undertaken by the famed ruler. Following his victory at Troy, as told within the companion epic, the king faces a long and perilous return to his homeland.

Mythical Encounters with an All-Star Cast

On his travels, Odysseus confronts countless challenges and legendary creatures. This roster features the enchantress Circe, known for turning humans into pigs, as well as the treacherous Sirens. Despite these trials, his sworn oath is to overcome anything to reunite with his wife and son in Ithaca.

The adaptation's cast is remarkably star-studded. Alongside the leading trio is Charlize Theron portraying the shrewd goddess, together with Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Elliot Page, and Jon Bernthal.

A Tale of Many Adaptations

The classic poem has seen numerous adaptations throughout history. Examples include modern retellings to a 1999 ballet. It has even been adapted into a musical called Epic: The Musical, presented as a multi-part album series.

A full-length preview has been highly anticipated since the film's announcement and a brief teaser which was initially shown only on the big screen. That teaser subsequently found its way online shortly thereafter.

For a superior viewing experience, the preview available via the movie's verified account may provide enhanced visual quality.

The Odyssey will debut in IMAX theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026.
