'People are afraid' - why 'juggernaut' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

It's clear why Arsenal have become many people's top picks to win the Premier League this season.

Consider their results against Fulham and Crystal Palace versus those same matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them in the current season, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race last season.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a crucial element why they are looking well positioned to at last realize their title ambition.

They rank top for unbreached games (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The defensive partnership of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal maintaining a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Excellence

Their threat from set-pieces is well known, but opposition teams still find it difficult to neutralize the Gunners from these chances.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Title Credentials

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the premier instance at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on boss Mikel Arteta at the start, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in pursuit of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far paid off in style, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and boasting the tightest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in three straight Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "unstoppable force, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and determination.
